Garland McPherson II
President
Garland McPherson has provided corporate finance and investment banking services to middle market and large corporate clients for over a dozen years. He founded Garland McPherson and Associates, Inc. ("GM&A") on the principle that these clients can receive quality, value added service at a reasonable price.
Prior to founding GM&A, Garland was a commercial lending officer for both regional and national banking companies for over 20 years, as well as an officer of the State of Maryland's MIDFA (Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority) organization.
In addition to his business activities, Garland is active in the not for profit sector, most recently being named the Chairman and President of United Presbyterian Ministries of Maryland, Inc., which provides low income housing for the elderly primarily in the city of Baltimore.

Samuel J. Wornom III
Managing Director
Sam is a seasoned financial executive with over 25 years experience in a wide range of financial disciplines. Prior to joining GM&A, Sam served as Chief Financial Officer for two privately held middle market firms. As CFO, he had the full range of responsibilities expected of the office plus treasury management, human resources and information technology.
His career includes broad experience in commercial banking while working for divisions of Equitable Trust, Commercial Credit and Citibank. Sam also served as acting CFO for three start-up firms in the initial stages of growth and development. In addition to the financial aspects of these ventures, his involvement included identifying, selecting and converting financial systems, strategic evaluations and management in crisis situations.
Sam received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of Virginia and an MBA in Finance from the Darden School at The University of Virginia.

Marc W. Ottinger
Managing Director
Marc manages the corporate finance efforts of GM&A, as well as current client account management and new business solicitation. Prior to joining GM&A he owned Baltimore Packaging, LLC, an export packaging and warehousing company in the Port of Baltimore, which he sold in the fourth quarter of 2005.
Marc began his career working with troubled company situations before joining Arthur Andersen & Co. as manager in the Operational Consulting and Corporate Recovery Services Groups. At Arthur Andersen his focus was on strategic planning, business plan development, and business process reengineering. After Andersen, Marc held two positions in the Governor's Office for the State of Maryland, assistant deputy chief of staff and the director of Market Application Development for the Governor's Information Technology Board.
A native Baltimorean, Marc received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and his MBA from Wake Forest University's Babcock Graduate School of Management in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Marc serves on the board of the Downtown Sailing Center, and Chaired the Annual Giving Campaign for McDonogh School and was a Past President of its Alumni Association. In addition, has been involved with the Washington & Lee Alumni Association. Other affiliations include the Grace United Methodist Church, the Engineering Society of Baltimore, and the MIT Enterprise Forum of Washington DC/Baltimore. Marc is married to Elizabeth, who is a dean at McDonogh School, and they have twins.

Charles W. Turnbaugh
Managing Director
From 2003 to 2007, Charles was the Commissioner of Financial Regulation for the State of Maryland, and responsible for the regulation of state chartered banks, credit unions, mortgage lenders and the various other financial industries that are regulated by the state of Maryland (other than insurance and securities). He received a Governor's Citation for Outstanding Service as Commissioner.
Prior to becoming Commissioner, Charles obtained 25 years of valuable experience in financial services as Senior Counsel or General Counsel at Commercial Credit, Loyola Federal, Riggs Bank, units of Citibank in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and New York, and at MBNA Bank in Delaware. He was also the Director of Government Affairs for Citibank's Retail Banking Unit (bank branch, mortgage and credit card operations) in Washington, D.C. while federal banking laws in the U.S. were being modernized. On behalf of Citibank, he formed the Thrift Charter Coalition and played a large role in preventing the elimination of the Federal Thrift Charter. During this period he became very well known within the American Bankers Association and the America's Community Bankers Association, serving on major legislative committees.
Charles received his Bachelor of Arts degree from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland) and his law degree from the University of Maryland, School of Law. He served four years on active duty with the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps.

James W. Morrissey, MBA, ABV
Senior Vice President - Business Valuation
Mr. Morrissey has developed or reviewed over 400 business valuation conclusions and financial analyses for estate tax planning, employee stock ownership plans, ownership transfer strategies, stock options, buy/sell agreements, mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts, and asset protection planning purposes. The equity valuations have included common stock, preferred stock, member interests, limited partnership interests, and general partnership interests.
He earned the ABV, Accredited in Business Valuation, designation by the American Institute of CPAs, and holds a Certified Public Accountant certificate from Pennsylvania. Mr. Morrissey holds a Master of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Indiana University. He authored the AICPA course manual on business valuation research to develop supportable opinions of value.

Debra Goodling-Kime
Managing Director - Financial Institutions' Practice
Deb has been in an executive management role in banking for more than 20 years of her 30-year career. She has worked in financial institutions ranging in size from $100 million to $13 billion. She has held titles such as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer, leading functions including finance, strategic and business planning, branch administration, loan and deposit operations, ALCO, technology, loan and credit administration. She was approved by the OCC and Federal Reserve Bank and served as Interim CFO of a troubled bank in western PA until it was sold to another institution. Most recently she served as Regional Executive for Susquehanna Bank in south central PA, with responsibilities for all commercial and retail sales activities in a region with total assets of $1.2 billion. She has led and participated on merger transition and due diligence teams on numerous occasions throughout her career.
Outside of her career in banking, Deb worked in the energy business as CFO for a diversified energy company and President of a chain of convenience stores, restaurants and motels. She served as the corporate executive for a captive reinsurance company owned by 8 banks in Pennsylvania and currently serves on the Board of Directors of a mutual insurance company. In addition to facilitating, writing and guiding the implementation of the planning process in her positions in banking and the energy company, she has also provided these services to other banks and businesses on a consulting basis.
Deb received her Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from York College of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Baltimore.
She serves on numerous non-profit boards in her community, including York College, Susan Byrnes Health Education Center, and Cultural Alliance of York County. She has taught banking and finance at York College and presented seminars on strategic planning to bankers in Pennsylvania.
